B trans case crack

I finally convinced the shafts to come out of the B trans. Wow, the big bearing on the input shaft is good - this is the 1st bearing in the whole tractor to look good!

My question is at the front of the case where the front bearing race for the countershaft (pinion shaft)is installed. The case appears to be cracked. looking forward from inside the trans, the snap ring that locates the race has the ends bent to point rearward. THe ends stick out of two little recesses that look like they were made for the ends, at 10:30 and 1:30. it. There is a very visible line that runs up 1/2 inch from the top of each notch, and a line that goes across to connect them. There is no sign of this on the front (outside) of the case. It also looks like the area just at the top of the bearing race seat is mising some metal, but there is none in the trans.

Am I correct that this is damage caused by someone beating the countershaft bearing cone the wrong way? Or is this normal?

I have another trans but I really don't want to rear it down for just the case. All the gears in this one look OK.

D-13, the case for the B,C and G have the same part #. I've got a spare case for the G tractor, if you want to pay shipping from Watsonville, Calif.

G is very different!

Thanks, I already have 2 spares, just hate to put in the work and have the different tractor number. Fortunately I am not "restoring" it, so that really doesn't matter.
