I was working on my tractor starter this weekend and found a lever on top of the hydraulic unit that I do not know what it is for. The lever is flat and parallel to the ground and has a rod that goes down into the torque tube near the hydraulic pump. It is located under the gas tank and to the left of the starter. I am thinking maybe it has to do with the traction boost system. Could this be used for the remote hydraulic output on the back of the near the 3 point?

Thanks in advance,
Roon

It is for shifting the belt pulley in and out of gear. If you have a pulley, you need to push in the clutch to shift it into gear. It is not independent of the drive system.

This is why buyers should also get the OPERATOR manual- it explains all controls of the tractor, as well as basic maintenance and operation.

I think you're looking at the shifter for the belt pulley unit. WHen equipped with the belt pulley, a rod extends from that lever out through the dash. There should be a small hole on the lower right portion of the dash that has a plug in it. The rod passes through that hole and there is a knob on the end for putting the belt pulley in and out of gear.

And what happens when you move the lever?

Tom, right now nothing happens, I have the electrics out of the tractor rewiring and rebuilding the starter. Will be about a week or two before I get her back together.

Thanks,
Roon
