I have a 56 B and I also have a tsx 305 carb and I an sure it is the original carb. I am currently looking for a bowl gasket for it. I may have to end up making one my self. If you know where I could find parts for the 305 please help.

Recently rebuilt the carb on a 1950 Allis B for a non-mechanically inclined owner. It was a Zenith. He had a parts catalog and I am resonably sure that the Marvel-Schebler was also in the catalog. Checking the catalog- which I no longer have - would reveal if the carburetor you have is original equipment. The Zenith on the Allis had non-adjustable high speed jet. My green tractor has a Marvel with adjustable high speed jet- I like that feature.

Ed, My 48'B came with a Zenith carb. Can't remember the number on it. I think it was 212248 or somethin' like that. From what reading I've done, the Marvel carb also came on the B. Hope that helps...
Steve B.

If by any chance the wrong carb was put on, could the tractor still run ok? If the fuel line runs behind the air cleaner near the block, would on warm days the fuel vapor lock? I have seen the fuel line run in both ways with zineth carbs but have yet to see a marvel carb on any tractor to see the difference. thanks for your help. ED

My 1949 B has a Zenith carb, my 1950 B has a Marvel Schebler carb. The 1950 is actually running better right now - the 1949's Zenith needs some work. Both have the fuel line running in the same place behind the air cleaner. I don't remember the numbers off-hand, but the MS is I think a TS-161 or something like that. I'd have to check. Of course there's no guarantee that either carb is original, but B's apparently had both MS and Zenith carbs. The page 1 service manual (under my specification pages link on my website - link below) does list two carbs, but I think they are both MS by the numbering. By the way, my 1951 CA has a Zenith ....!

Ed, The fuel line on my B runs right behind the air cleaner housing next to the block, and even though I installed a new one in place of the original, I ran the new one right in the same place the OEM one was and haven't had any vapor lock troubles this past summer. I don't see why the Marvel wouldn't perform any different than the Zenith that's on my B. If Dave see's this post again, he may be able to give you a little info about the Marvel on his B and where the fuel line runs. Steve B.

I agree with Steve.
I vapor lock before my B will on a hot day.
