I picked up a good looking rebuilt starter at a farm sale where an XT190 was sold for parts minus starter. What voltage is it? How do you tell what it fits, part #'s. Looks way to good to throw away. Has anyone got a use for it?

It may be for a 190XT diesel. The starter for a diesel was larger than the gas. It also used a differant type solenoid. Check the number stanped on the winding housing. I might could use it.

I will get all the numbers off of this starter I can find. I don't know if it is 12 or 24 volt. There were two other big Allis tractors there that weren't that old ready to go to work. They both had two big batteries. I don't know if they were used in series or parallel. My knowledge ends with the WD45. I know nothing about the newer ones.

That starter should fit most 301 AC engines, I would think. It may not fit the 8000 series, but at least all of the 190's, 200's, L, M combines, and maybe the 7000 series tractors

I was going to sell it to a friend that had an Allis 185 but it was way to big, longer and bigger around. It has three attachment holes at the bell housing end.

The 185's came with a shorter Lucas starter,if the starter you have is a Delco with the same bolt pattern it will probably work.I think there is a fuel line you have to remove to get it in place.
