I FOUND WHAT I THINK IS A WD IN THE WEEDS UNDER WHAT IS LEFT OF A SHED. I LOOKED FOR A SERIAL # ON THE REAR HOUSING BUT DIDN'T FIND ONE. IT HAS A SQUARE SEAT ON IT. IT NEEDS A CARB, TIRES, FENDER (1), BACK RIM. THE WATER PUMP IS OFF AND THE RADIATOR IS MISSING. THE REAR TIRES ARE 12.4 X 28. I WAS TOLD IT WAS RUNNING 2 YEARS AGO, NOT MOVED, JUST RUNNING. ANY IDEA WHAT TO OFFER THE GUY FOR IT? IS IT WORTH DRAGGING HOME? IT ALSO HAS THE CULTIVATOR WITH IT.

Thanks for all the good comments! If nothing else I will try to drag it out and make a parts tractor out of it. I think I have a line on another one close by, might just take two and make one. Again thanks! M.D.

It is a lot easyer to buy than sell , so look around and find something good to start with.I don't care if I pay to much for something I realy like , but if it is a lot of work and not what you want , you soon paid to much.

The below comments are good advice. A good running WD doesn't cost that much. I took my grandfathers WD from behind the chicken coop, Where it sat for as long as I can remeber. I have over $2000.00 into the tractor and still not done. Mind you I didn't pay a dime for the tractor. All in All try to find a fair running tractor. All the parts that can be replaced on one "sitting in the weeds" can bury you.. Good Luck

Yes, but I don't keep track of the money I am putting out, justhving fun working on my WD. I don't get as much time as I want, but I love going down to the basement/shop and making one thing after the other right. I am near starting it, working on radiator sheetmetal now, and neet to clean and coat the gastank, then it is fire up time. Have spent a few years and have about a total of two (one whole tractor, and tow parts of tractors) tractors here to make one. At this point (running) I will still have a lot left to do. May need to go into the trans and do seals too, who knows.

Anyway, if you can get the WD for little or noting and have the time and a place to work on it it can provide a good hobby project and a lot of fun for you. If not, get it anyway and find someone who wants it. Don't let it be scrapped!

A decent, running, working WD should run you about $1000 these days, not repainted, not un dented etc but mechanically sound and operating, not burning oil or leaks all over the place.

square seat was sometimes a b or c i would say my opinon a parts tractor $ 300 or less figure the price of parts to put together and you could buy a running one but if you offer the guy $ 1500 you will have a 50/50 chance of owning it and he will be telling how much he lost !!!!! !!!!!

If I`m reading the first post right you would be crazy to offer $1500, $300 sounds much better. I saw a 1950 WD straight and ran good, back rims were rotting but solid, sold for $850 at a farm auction. Look around don`t get in a hurry, you will find what you want at a good price.
