I am trying to remove my camshaft from my WD Allis. I have the timing gear off and the end plug out but the camshaft does not slide out. What am I missing?

I wonder, why did you remove the timing gear and the end cover to remove the camshaft? The camshaft goes out the front of the engine..no need to remove the gear or the cover on the back. Only reason to remove the cover in back is to remove and reinstall a new bushing .

Did you remove the valve cover to remove the rocker arms, push rods and lifters (tappets)? I think the flywheel cover, oil pan and oil pump also have to come off too.

I wanted to remove the camshaft because the gear that drives the oil pump shattered and wore the oil pump gear. Thanks to all your help I was able to remove shaft. There was enough wear that I had to pound on the shaft for it to move out of the block. Thanks again to all!

yes, I removed oil pan and pump,rocker arms and pushrods.

Are you able to turn the camshaft in the bearings? Has it moved any? You didn't mention the tappets. They need to come out too or at least be raised to clear cam lobes and journals.
