i have a WD and have a leak where the short pto shaft goes into the rear of the pto housing. i took the shaft out and the rubber seal looks good. the shaft, approx. 8 inches long, has a couple of worn grooves on it. could that be the problem? where can i find a new shaft and how much will it cost?

How bad are the groves? Sometimes you can get away with replacing the seal with a new one and not fully driving it in to the housing. Just be sure to drive it as square as possible. The axles on my CA were worn like that and thats what I did and it hasn't leaked yet. Good luck. Brian

You might try going to a bearing house like IBT, Industrial Bearing and Transmission, and getting a speedy sleeve. The sleeve will drive on the shaft were it is worn, renewing the shaft. I have repaired shaft on other equipment before successfully with these sleeves. I don't know if they are available for this particular application. It is worth a try.
