AC Model B?

My neighbor has a tractor that he claims is an AC Model B. The front end can be adjusted width wise. All the Model B's I've seen had a solid front end that wasn't adjustable. Is this indeed a Model B? Is this the stock front end? Any info would be appreciated.

I believe this type of axle was available on some Bs and interestingly enough on some of the Cs as well. Telling which is a simple matter if the final drives are the original assemblies. If the cast rear wheel centers are held to the axles with a single nut (these are splined to the axles), it's a B. If it's a five-lug wheel center, the tractor is a C.

CJJ, The B was available with an adjustable wide
front axle as an option on 1940 (I think) and
later models. Just bought a '40 with this axle
myself.

CJJ, I HAVE AN INTREST IN MODEL B'S. I'M CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR ON TO RESTORE. THE B HAD TWO DIFFERENT FRONT AXLES. ONE WAS A SOLID CASTIG AND THE OTHER WAS MADE OF SQUARE TUBING THAT WAS ADJUSTABLE. I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS AN ACCESSORY OR JUST FOUND IN THE LATEST MODELS. WILL

Yes your friend has a "B". I think it was an option, a pretty popular option. I've seen a lot of them.

Right in front of the shifter lever the words, Tractor No will be cast in the metal. Just below this the serial number will be. It should start with a B or a C, the model of which it is. Hope this helps.
