Rebuilt this tractor had great oil pressure for months, parked in shed during the cold winter, start about every week or so and let run. Today went to start, runs great but no oil pressure. Can the oil get to thick and lose prime in this cold weather (Lower MI- 0-30degreees last few weeks) ? How can I reprime the pump without breaking tractor in two?

look at the oil line that comes out of the bell housing on the right side. Take that line off and squirt some oil down it. That line goes directly to the oil pump. Also check the rod that sticks up in the oil filter. I have crimmped the end on those and got the oil psi back.

A few thoughts :)

If its below freezing, could be water has frozen around the oil screen. Knew of a jd-b that lost its bearings that way

Aaron/ I have a RC that did the same thing, after spliting the tractor and finding nothing wrong with the oil pump. When I checked the oil pick up screen and pipe I found that the pipe had cracked where it theards into the block.Just might be something you want to check before going after that oil pump./ Jim.

I had a B that showed no oil pressure, so I swapped a guage from my CA and it then it had pressure....so it might be the guage.

Steve,
It's possible that the drive pin in the end of the camshaft sheared or came out if priming the pump doesn't fix it. Duey

behind the oil filter you will see the 1/4 inch pipe coming out of the flywheel housing that supplys oil to valves in teh head, and to the filter housing. take the TEE off this pipe and squirt 10 wt motor oil into it. reinstall and start again, see what happens. yes you can loose prime, normally if the tractor sets for long periods if time, usually a week will not do it.

REMOVE THE LINE FROM THE TEE TO THE OIL FILTER. TURN IT SO THE FILTER END POINTS UP AND RETIGHTEN TO THE TEE. WITH A PUMP OIL CAN, PUMP OIL INTO THE TUBE TO PRIME THE PUMP AGAIN.
THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY C LAST FALL AFTER IT RAN FOR A WHILE AFTER REBUILD. GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN WITH THOSE ALLIS'
