A neighbor has a 1957 wd45 seems to be in good shape. He's asking 2200.00 for it but I think he'll come down. Is there anything special about the 57wd45 than the the models 53-56 except being newer.Oh its a wide front.

The late 57's had a D-17 cam which made more power

Look for a power steering pump. This option was available on the later models, would come in handy with the wide front, and would add value to the package.

There isn't really any difference due to age. Some WD-45's will have had the lift modified to work with standard 3 point implements. Some 45's will have larger tires and some may have been rebuilt to put out more horsepower. $2200 is a lot of money for one unless it is near perfect.

56 and later 45s had a 5 disc hand clutch as opposed to 3 on earlier ones. The steering pedestal can accept single, narrow or wide equipment by bolting it on. To me that seems a reasonable price if the tractor is in good shape and runs well. Check the shift boot, and if it is cracked make sure there is no water or water damage in the transmission. Pull drain plug on pto, lowest point to check. Or if it has been running and coffee color to the transmission oil would mean water.
