For several years I have been searching for my grandfather's B Allis. I don't know the serial number. I would love to find it & restore it. The last time I saw the tractor it was in Marion Iowa. It was used to mow a ball diamond, the ball diamond no longer exists. The new owner had painted the tractor blue and the wheel rims white. I have posted signs in stores in the area describing the tractor & asking for help. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate them. Thanks,Mark

Which ball diamond was it used to mow? Can you give an address or something? Was it a city facility or private? Seems recent enough that someone ought to know. I live in Vinton now, but lived in Marion from 1985-1995. I have worked at Rockwell in Cedar Rapids for 23 years. I'll keep an eye open for it - it would be hard to miss a blue AC! Gary

Thanks Gary, The ball diamond was behind the shopping center where the bowling alley, Orscheln (Fleetway) are located. The ball diamond was private and owned by the Katz brothers, they owned quite a bit of land, along with Marion Iron Works. The one brother Bert Katz is wintering in California & won't be back until spring. The other brother has passed away. I learned all this on Friday. I appreciate your efforts. Mark

The tractor had been owned by the Katz Brothers of Marion Iowa and had been used to mow the Marion Mobile Home Park & a ball diamond. Several years ago the tractor had been traded for 2 Simplicity Lawn Tractors in the Newhall/Norway area.

Thank you Marc & Irv, I appreciate your thoughts. The last time I saw the tractor was probably 15 years ago. I feel it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I don't want to give up!! Mark

Mark, I live near Tipton (Iowa) so I will keep an eye out for that blue tractor. By the way, I have a 1940 B that I use on our old farm house to push snow. The B is a great tractor and I wish you luck in finding the tractor that holds so much sentimental value for you. Marc

A City Guy's First Tractor - by Fred Hambrecht. After living in apartments in Atlanta for more years than I care to remember, the wife and I decided to move to the country. Humming "Green Acres is the place for me..." we purchased a 29 acre tract about 60 miles south of Atlanta. Next came the house, I could talk about that ordeal for another two weeks... But, I want to talk about my tractor! We didn't even own a lawnmower, and all of a sudden we had enough grass to feed all the starving children of the bovine world. Naturally, I talked
