The switches sound like the same switches on my AC B. The toggle switch on mine is a kill switch, used to shut the tractor off. If you are trying to start the tractor with it in the kill position (down on my tractor) there will be no spark and the engine will not run. The second pull type switch is a headlamp/charging rate switch. The first pull position increases the charging rate. The second position out turns on the lights (if equipped).

Scott,
You need two things to make an engine run. Spark & fuel. If you don't have one or the other, she won't run. Like the other fellows said, clean the carb up inside and throw a rebuild kit in it. Check for spark. If you don't have any, clean the points up. When they sit for long periods of time, it doesnt' take much for the points to get a film over them to lose the spark. Also, if it's mag equipped, make sure the mag kill switch isn't rusted and is grounding out the mag. A good way to test it is disconnect the mag wire from the mag or the switch and see if you have spark. If you do, she just may fire up, and you've found yer' culprit! If you need any electrical parts or ignition parts we can help you out.. Good Luck!Steve B.

I would think you should drain the old gas and put fresh gas in, if you havn't already done so. I'm somewhat of a tractor newbe, but I understand that gas starts to gum up if it sits for more than a few months. Good luck and enjoy your tractor. The C is a good one. Don't let it drive you too crazy.

If it sat out for a year I'd also check the electrical system from the switch to the coil to make sure the ignition is getting power. I'd also check the condition of the points and the plugs (and rotor). I'd also give the air cleaner a look, just to make sure it's not clogged. If it was sitting, you don't know what might have gotten into it. As Scott suggested, once the carb is off, I'd rebuild it.

Scott, Sounds like the float is sticking in carb. The main jet at bottom might also be plugged.I would pull carb and since it is off get a rebuild kit.Are you getting spark Scott? Also if it were me I would pull valve cover and make sure all the valves move freely. My $.02 Worth Justin NY

Sounds like an obvious thing, but always drain engine oil and add new before cracking an engine that's been sitting outside. There's always a chance that water has gotten into the crankcase and what would otherwise be a good running engine is damaged during the first start-up. I agree with the other post about the air cleaner and cleaning it and adding new oil. I've found birdnests, rat nests and live mice inside these air cleaners.

Once you get the ignition and carb working and she's running, then drain the rear end and tranny and add new lube here too.

I had the same problem. I replaced points, condensor, plugs and wires, etc. Still would not fire. I needed to lengthen the amall wire between the coil and the distributor. When I redid it, the tractor fired like new.
Hope this helps
