Colin, When you ran out of fuel, some of the contamination and foreign material in the bottom of the tank may have made its way to the carburetor. If this is the case, the screen on the sediment bowl may be deteriorated and need replacing. Suggest you remove the carburetor for inspection and cleaning. Use some cleaning solvent and compressed air - carburetors can never be to clean. As a basis for establishing the float level, adjust it so the float is parallel with the top-base of the carburetor and the needle is closed on the seat. Also, check to see if one of the floats has a pinhole in it. If it does, it will be full of fuel and will reduce considerably the buoyancy of float assembly, which will prevent it from controlling the fuel level. Keep us posted. Tom
