A "friend" borrowed my tractor and now there's water in my oil! He said it got "a little hot" and he had to fill it with water. I know that this could be kinda hard on things. Does anyone know the best ways of finding out exactly where the problem is and how to fix it. I hope its not kaput!

Some friend!! I might turn the other cheek while holding out the other hand for the check! Seriously if someone causes serious damage to your engine he darn sure ought to offer to pay for it.

Sure, The easiest way to find a coolant leak is to remove the valve cover and oil pan. Then put coolant back in the radiator and look for the leak(s) Water in the oil can come from several places that are not catistrophic but given what your "buddy" did, the chances of it being someting other than a casting crack are remote.

We ALL learn the HARD way.....

Good Luck...hope it isn't a cracked head...you may get lucky and only have a head gasket leak... Won't be surprised to hear you find a crack at the bottom web, between the 1-2, or 3-4 cylinders. BUT...anything is possible...Good Luck....hope it is not too serious...

Mark I can understand the idea of the turning the other cheek, but no real friend returns something broken without trying to make it right especially something that serious.

I thank all who have given this darn thing some thought! It is so hard when someone that close does something that stupid. Lessons are learned from both sides of the fence. I hope that I am forgiven for the stupid things that I have done. Once again thankyou all for your input!

We had a problem some years ago with our WD 45 putting water in the oil.
If I remember correctly my grandfather replaced the head gasket and it took care of the problem.
