The old D14 that we had on the farm I grew up on is for sale by my cousins. I am trying to decide if I should buy it. It has not ran for two years. We know it needs a new radiator & starter for sure. My question is how easy is it to find parts & manuals for these tractors. How difficult is it to work on them. I could probably pick it up for $800 - $1000. My boyfriend is an aircraft mechanic & overhauls his own car engine. Are old tractors a whole different story or something that can be worked on & parts found. Does the price seem about right?

Julie, if you can get it for under $1500, it should be a bargain. I'm assuming the engine and transmission are OK. You're boyfriend will enjoy how much easier it is to work on a D14 if his experience is cars and airplanes.
Good luck,

---the price is very low, might be 2-3 times that much if it is in decent shape.
--yes parts are available
--yes your boyfriend is over qualified to work on a tractor if he can do an automotive engine.
--buy it and let him have at it. he should not have any trouble, simple tractor.
