My WD smokes a little when it is at a slow idle can I just hone the sleves and put in new rings without taking out the sleves or replacing them would this be ok and would it last???thanks in advance sHan..

Only way to tell if sleeves are servicible is to make a micrometer measurement . Should be no more than .003 over nominal size although reasonable for light work to go to .005 over. If greater replace sleeves. Usually if top side is worn that much the crankshaft will also be worn enough to warrant regrinding and new bearings.

Could be just worn out valve guides and you're loosing a little oil control windaging past the valves into the combustion chambers. Usually, if it's a ring problem, the engine will smoke more heavily, be down on power, and plugs come out pretty oil fouled. Did you do a plug inspection just to see what they look like?

i pulled the plugs a wile ago i had 1 that was completly oil fouled and 1 that was prety bad shape. if i run a compression check what should the comp be on the cyls. thanks sHan

If they are all similar and around 70 to 100, you're in pretty good shape. If you have one fowling, I'd expect that one to lower than the rest.
