Anyone know which end goes on the governor shaft? See picture at link.

Thanks,

I purchased a governor spring for a Briggs -Stration motor at local general store. Hooked it up and it worked fine. Stopped the surge. Cost about $l.29.

When I tore down my C, the large end was around the exhaust stud. In looking at my parts manual, it appears the large end goes through the govenor rod although if I remember correctly when I reassembled my tractor, putting the small end on the stud just didn't look right.

My 2 cents...

Thanks Dana. The remnants of my old spring had the large end around the exhaust stud, as your C. I am going to put it back that way, despite the implication in the manual.
