Wc aux tranny

I am posting this for a friend. He is thinking of purchasing a WC that has what appears to be an auxilary/hi-lo gearbox that is located between the factory transmission and the rear end. Is this a hi/lo in each gear or is it a extra clutch to make the pto "live"? What would something like this be valued at? Thank you for the help.

poor mans live power,push it out of gear and stop the drive to the wheels but lets the pto keep running . better than digging a slug out of the baler or combine(pull type pto drive). Us old f#### used to run them.

Could be an underdrive. Could be an overdrive.
Most likely it is standard disengage found on all styled WC's.

I have heard of them at tractor pulls. It is a Sherman Underdrive unit. Many guys have been looking for this transmission for it's low gears. If I was him, I would buy it for up to 2700{In my own opinion}.

What you have is a Sherman transmission unit. They have a low side that is lower than your factory gears, and a high side that is higher than your factory gears, also a neutral that works as a hand clutch. I bought a WC from Larry Swinson that had one of these. I was told that it is a 500.00 item. I let him keep it. I kind of wish I had kept it now. Dave.

It is probably a rearend disconnect. used so the mechanical lift can raise cultivator when tractor is not moving, these are faily common. but it could be a dry clutch also.
