I have the chance at getting an Allis RC. The rear rims are pretty rusted, and I think the engine is stuck. Question, did the RC have the same motor as a B? What are some things to look for before/if I buy this tractor. Not sure of it's serial number. Any information on this tractor would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Brandon

The RC was supposed to be able to handle a two row cultivator. It is very simular to the WC but has less horsepower. Make sure the brakes work{ $100 to repaire each!} Hope that helps you out.

If it has the true gears in the rear end they are worth 500 to 600 dollars alone to most WC tractor pullers. They are real hard to find in Ne.

Why did Allis Chalmers make such a tractor? Why would you want an underpowered WC??? Can anyone fill me in?

It was supposed to be a cheaper WC.

and the same implements..... eliminated the need to design new implements such as cultivators, planters, loaders, etc.

Brandon, I purchased a RC in the same kind of condition as the one you are looking at. I paid $100.00 for it. I replaced all tires and rims front and rear from a WC they are a perfect match.

RC fronts are 15" while WC's are 16". I believe original rear rims were 9" wide for RC and 10" wide for the WC - if you're worried about the "correct" police LOL!

Brandon, I think the block for the D-14 is also the same as the B and the D-10, D-12 and C. They may have made some block changes on the D series tractors.

Brandon,
The RC came about by dropping the B engine into the WC frame rails. The RC model started in 39' and went to 1941. There were only a few years of this model made and total production was just over 84,000. The major problem that the RC had was to much tractor, and not enough engine. Personally, I think they're pretty cool & have a lot of character, but according to some of my books, definetely not a "powerhouse". You can probably get the engine free. Being the RC originated from the WC, the wheels I would think are the same as the WC. Actually, the RC is a streamlined WC. I wouldn't mind finding one of those some day myself for my next project... Steve B.

Something I might add to what Steve had to say, The RC also had a lower gear rear end than the WC had. An old timer told me that back in the old days people would take the RC rear end and put it in a WC to give it more power. If that happened very often there may not be as many RC's out there as we might think. Dave.

I've heard that is a favorite trick of antique tractor pullers too....

While this may work, the RC rear has only one bearing on the REAR of the pinion shaft, the WC has two, both have a single bearing on the front of this shaft. The WC is more rugged.

I have to disagree, I think there were only about 5,000 made. They are definatley desirable, even while being a little underpowered, just because they are rare. Now don't get me wrong, they will still do a lot of work. I have seen one in stock condition pull well at a antique tractor pull. I would go for it if you can get it for a reasonable price. All of the small AC engines will fit I think, B, C, CA, Maybe the D 10-D12, but not sure of it.

You're correct Tom! 5,501 to be exact! I was looking on my production sheet and accidently dropped down a line as I was going across. 84,030 is production on the C model. Sorry Brandon!! My mistake. (that's what I get for not puttin' on ma glasses..) It still is one of my favorites! Steve B.

No problem Steve. Thank you both for the information. I haven't heard a price on the tractor yet. when I do, i'll let you know to see if it is reasonable. What do they usually go for? It looks to be complete, minus the magneto. I know where there are a couple junk B's and C's so parts shouldn't be a problem. Again, thanks a lot. Brandon

Brandon, I'm restoring an RC now. Mine was stuck, and in rough condition and I pd $350 for it. There are some parts that are unique to the RC,such as the radiator, radiator shell, gas tank saddle, and gas tank, and the front rims.Parts such as these can be a little tough to come by so check them out good. Good luck, Tim
