OK i've found a C that has the serial # C19878 that needs a mag. and wires.Hes asking $300 for it. There are trees about 3-4 inches in dia. growing "through" it but it looks like a fairly clean tractor.Tin is straight and all there. How expensive is this one to overhaul? How close is this one to a B?I guess I'll be an AC fan 'cause everywhere I go lately I find one.Is the C engine interchangeable with a B engine?I've found my winter project I guess. Thanks,David

David,
The C is the next size up from it's cousin the B model. They share some sheet metal, some engine parts. Front end, rearend, & steering have their differences. A "C" model is a real nice machine also. If ya need wires and a mag I can help ya out there. I make the correct spark plug wires, and rebuild mags. Drop me a line. The expense is up to you. You can fix it and get it running, or you can fix it and go hog wild. The money invested is your choice. If the engine is free, and turns over, that's a plus, and for the price, I would grab it. Pay the man and fire yer' chain saw up!! I paid $400 for my B with a stuck engine, but after a couple of years restoring it and having a ton of fun doing it, she looks like new again! If you need any electrical parts or a wiring system, give us a call! Steve B.

the C and B engines are the same, after 1940. The first b had a BE motor, with a smaller bore, then changed when the C came out to the new CE motor. Other than the bor and piston, you can still interchange BE and CE motor parts. The C has a wider rear axle case and 6 inch longer axle shaft on each side. The C normally has a narrow front end, the B is always wide front. They are 95% the same tractor. It can cost $500 to overhaul a motor, but maybe quite less. Tires and rims are $250 per side. It can add up quick if you are going for quality and originality. For $300,i would buy it. If you have a couple tractors you can easily build one. You can also get your money back out of the $300 tractor for parts if everything else fails.
