WC blocks all the same?

I am looking at a WC block to replace a cracked one on my 36 WC. My block has part #U-3019-25 or 26? The block I found is part #U-3019-8. Do the last numbers (8 vs. 25 or 26) mean anything. Are the blocks interchangable? My engine serial # ends in G (5.5:1 compression ratio) the other block has a serial number ending in K (4.2:1 compression ratio). Am I correct in assuming that the blocks are the same, just the guts are different?

There are at least three blocks that are not interchangable, though they may be "partially interchangable". One type (early) has smaller bearing journals. Then there are the 12 and 15 cylinder head stud type blocks. WD blocks (both types - side plate and solid casting with no sideplate) can be used in a WC if other parts are "matched up". There are two types of cylinder heads ("thin" and "thick") on the WD's so that has to be considered. Compression is determined by the selection of pistions. I have a 15 stud cylinder head WC with a 4 and 1/8 bore (1/8 inch overbore sleeve set) and 7.2 to 1 compression ratio pistons. Only problem is that it takes a very big, good 6 volt battery or a 12 volt battery (12 volt conversion) to reliably turn it over and start it. It can still be "hand cranked" to start though. It does run "very nice" and has plenty of power to spin the (original) 14.9 x 28 rear tires with fluid and wheel weights. Pulls a 10 ft or 12 ft tamden wheel disk in third gear in decent soil. I think youll have to watch cause some of them were 12 stud heads and the others are 15 stud heads. Hope this helps.

Thanks Gordon & Justin. I am checking the block I have located against mine (journal size and number of head studs). Guys like you who know more about AC's than I do, sure will make my new hobby go a lot more smoothly.
