Has anyone connected a C chassis (bell housing aft) to a B front end with the 125 cu in engine?

Is there any reason this wouldn't work?

Kevin; These sorts of pairings have been done many, many times. It is a straight forward pairing, since both tractors are, for all intents and purposes, the same. About the only difference is the bore diameter of the engines, the C being the larger.

The front axles swap, but you need the steering box and arm as noted in the other post. Also, the B and C grille shells are different (the C works on a B but not the other way around). On some the gas tank pedestal and strap are different too but will swap as a unit.

We put a B axle and steering on my friend's C in about an hour. I'm going to make a narrow front B with my spare parts collection.

My dad(Bruce) and I have bought a C that had the non adjustable B front Axle mounted on it. The picture is on the allis chalmers page archives. There are two problems I know of. First, the rear end of the C is wider than a B since the B was a one row tractor and the C was two rows. But, if you never use the cultivators it shouldn't be that big of a problem. Second, the steering link on a C is up, the pitman arm on the steering wheel geer box points up. On a B it is down. If you had a B box and pitman arm, you could just put the steering box from the B on the C chassis and use the original linkage, I think. On our C, whoever had it made there own linkage using the C gear box pointing up and the B front end down, It sure was an ugly way to do it, but it worked. I still have that homemade link but have since put a C tricycle on that C so it would be original. E-mail me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the help. I had a good C chassis and didn't want it to "go to waste". If and when I get around to it, I'll repost.
