WD axle support

I have a 1950 WD wide front end. Somewhere during it's life the front axle support was broken or lost. It was replaced with a homemade affair that is somewhat less than ideal. Does anyone have a drawing with the correct dimensions of this piece including hole sizes & posistion? The one on there jams against the hand crank shaft and has bolt holes that are way big so nothing is as secure as I would like it. AC's are uncommon here so I can't go find one to look at. I don't have one, mine is a narrow front end or I would take it off and measure for you. You do need to know if you are looking for a 3 or 4 bolt mode. I suspect yours is the 3 bolt which was used until late in production. The 3 bolt was used prior to serial no. 186413 according to my parts manual. The 4 bolt looks something like a "Y".

After finishing off the bird, I'll go out and check- mine sounds like yours- and will send you dimensions. I rebuilt mine a few years ago. The old piece was very worn and I built it up with weld and machined it down to fit the pivot.

Thanks, I spent quite a bit of time last year taking 'slop' out of the front end. Everything was loose and most bolt holes were stretched and or 'dished' from wear. Once I replace the support I will have the front end complete. Peter

Just re-read your original post and see that you might need more info than what I have at hand right now. However, the lower hole, where the axle pivots, is 1 1/4 inch diameter. That hole is 8 3/4 inches below the upper hole, center to center. The other two hole locations you can determine from the holes in the cast steering housing, as well as their location relative to the top one. The five-sided plate is 1/2 inch steel. To rebuild mine, I cut a slice of a solid shaft that fit inside the slopped out hole, welded everything solid, and relocated and drilled the 1 1/4 hole. Just got a digital camera, so perhaps soon I could post a pix of the plate, or contact me via email with your address and I'll send you a drawing with all dimensions.

about a year ago i was in the same position you are in. i was able to find a agco allis dealer with a new plate in stock p.n.70222074 at the price of 37.33 if you do not wish to fab. your own. the dealer i obtained mine from was card bros.equip.chesaning mi 18003221674.good luck
