..... one of these is going to be sold tomorrow at the Kingsdale VFD consignment auction outside of Littlestown, Pennsylvania.....I went up yesterday to take a look at it and it appeared to be in good shape....I got 2 questions:A) will my WD45 handle it? and B)how do you make it roll over at the end of the furrow?..do you put a hydraulic cylinder on it or do you have to roll it by hand...I've seen pictures of the 2B roll-over before but this is the first one I've seen in real life. before....thanks.
Bo

As a kid I used one of these on a 45 for many hours. A 45 will not even know it is pulling one, could plow in third at 1/3 throttle. Unless there were a lot of rocks, then you have to go slow and hope you can get the hand clutch out before you shear one of the 5/8 bolts or the main 3/4" bolt that holds each plow to the main frame. Anyway, here is how you use one. At the end of the row you lift the plow, turn the wheels sharp in the correct direction, hit the brake for the turn you are making, turn, back up in line with the next furrow, reach down with your left hand and release the locking lever to spin the plow, garb the thing and give it a spin until it locks in again, lower it and away you go. You will learn to do the whole turn is seconds. The only time you have to get off the tractor is if you hit a rock and shear a bolt. Don't know if you have rocks, if you do have your hand on the clutch lever ready to instantly release it hopefully before you shear the bolt. Carry some of the correct size and length in the tool box. Make sure that the full diameter of the bolt, not the threads, is taking the shear, by getting long enough bolts. The 3/4" bolt can be a bear to change as it can partially shear over time and then let go and the partially sheared section for the opposite plow will not want to drive out of the hole. You have to loosen a lot to get it out. You might use a higher grade bolt here and a lesser grade for the 5/8" bolt, that way you will probably not have to change the 3/4 very often if ever. The plow never gave a bit of problem, always worked well. Has a couple of grease fittings on the spinner bearings if I remember too.

Your WD45 would handle it just fine. As for how they roll, they have a hand release as stated before, but it is easy to reash from the seat, no need to get off.

To roll the plow over there is a lever on the left side of plow, from tractor seat. this lever will release the plow, then you roll it over by hand. The plow tat I have came with a WD45

....thanks Jim, that's what I suspected....you would have to get down and flip it by hand....on a long field it wouldn't be so bad, but on a short field like I play around on I'd be on and off the tractor every 5 minutes....think I'll pass.
Good luck to everyone!
Bo

I would immagine that it would hold it just fine, the problem is that it's kinda small if you ask me, from a work perspective. The 45 is rated at 3 bottom. With that much hp, you'll be making more trips across that field. You might try to find a 4 bottom.

....oops!...guess I didn't describe things too well, what I should have said was 4 bottom...2 up and 2 down....how do those things flip over at the end of the furrow anyway?
Thanks,
Bo

Bo or anyone where is a picture of one? I would like to see it. I have one in the flesh that I'd like to get plowing again. I know I'm up against it finding the left hand bottoms for it. I think mine is a 50 series but have yet to find anything but part casting numbers anywhere on it. Anyone have a manual on one? I figured that at the end of a furrow you tripped the lever and then as you raised it, it would drag a little and roll over on it's own. Not having ever plowed on my own in my adult life that is just a guess. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Joel Washington

Bob, E-mail me please, so you can elaborate more for me. I'd like to pick your brain on how your plow works and operates. Joel
