I have an AC B with electric start and lights, but all the wiring is gone on the electrical system. My question is should the mag fire without anything else being wired if I crank the engine by hand and will the tractor run if I try to start it by hand with nothing wired. Thanks

Hi Bob,

If you have a magneto ignition system, the tractor will start and run without the wiring harness. The magneto is completely independent of the battery, starter, generator, lights, etc. The problem with this, if you want to call it a problem, is that the engine cannot be shut off from the driver's seat. You must get off the tractor and manually ground the magneto by depressing the ground switch lever on the side of the mag. This would be considered a safety matter by today's standards. You might want to consider running a single wire from this point on the mag to a switch accessible from the drivers seat that enables the wire to be grounded and the engine killed from the seat.
