Karen,
I remember reading on this site way back a ways, someone having oiling troubles, and I do remember one of the fellows here said to check the oil screen in the oil pan to make sure it's clear and not partially plugged or even fallen off into the oil pan. Might be something to check. I don't remember if the person who had the problem said it was surging as your's is. Could be a possibility I guess. I'm sure some of the folks on the site can give you a few more things to check.... Good Luck! Steve B.

A while back someone mentioned priming the oil pump. I've never had to do this, but he said to remove the oil filter and use a squirt oil can to fill up the line to the oil pump. He *may* have said remove an oil line and squirt into it - I just don't remember. I do know that you are supposed to submerge a new oil pump in oil before installation to get oil throughout and prime it. I'm not sure if that's practical or even possible with a B's oil pump type and location. The priming idea may be worth a look (in addition to the oil pickup idea already noted).

Excuse me - that should be a G's oil pump location (I must have B on the brain today!).
