A number of the MS carbs only had an idle adjustment (on the linkage at the carb) and a low speed screw adjustment - the high speed was set by the jet and non-adjustable. You might start by: - use appropriately-sized drill bits to check the diameters of the jets in the carb. Stick the plain end of the correctly sized bit into the jet to see if there's wear and if a jet needs to be replaced. - Check your choke to make sure it's opening all the way. I'm guessing the engine runs fine, it's just a little rich? - Check the air intake oil bath and so forth - those wire meshes up in the body can hold an astounding amount of dirt that may need to be cleaned to allow good air flow. The manual probably has some carb adjustment info. Usually you start by having the adjusting screw 1-1/2 turns out and then fine tune it from there. Also check and make sure the float is operating properly - extra gas in the bowl might make it run richer too. And finally, check that venturi in the carb. If it's loose there will be all sorts of interesting things goin on. Hope that helps you get started.
