D-17 oil pressure

my D-17 has started to lose oil pressure after it is warmed up and running. My compression is between 115 and 120 in all 4 cylinders. It hasn't burnt or dripped a bit of oil since I've owned it. Ir starts around the "A" of NORMAL and after an hour or so drops to the "N". Any Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I assume you have an early D17 with the bypass oil fiter system on it like on the WD's. If so, your oil filter will fit over a long narrow tube that sticks up from the base where you screw on the oil filter. These systems don't usually show as much oil pressure on the gauge as the later full flow systems. The book will say that when hot and running wide open, you should be on O, R, or M in the word NORMAL on the gauge. If it's on the N, it's not too bad and it realy will run a long time. You don't hear any noise or knocking from the engine do you? It's possible that it is getting worn..the most critical point is actually the camshaft bushings where the oil goes first after leaving the pump. Next of course are the main bearings and the rods. But if it's on N when hot and there's no noise, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks Dan. It is an early model; 1958. I haven't heard any knocking or other unusual noise from the engine, so I guess I'll just keep on working it. appreciate the reply.
