Hi...a friend of mine has a '49 Allis B that has a buzz-saw mounted at the rear of the tractor. The tractor isn't running, and he's thinking about doing some work on the engine and selling it, since he's just got too much iron sitting idle around on his farm. Is it worth putting the money into rebuilding the engine, or would he be better off just selling it 'as is' and leaving the engine work for the buyer to do? The paint is shot, but aside from the engine everything else seems sound enough...

Hexe; It depends. A "B" that is'nt running is'nt worth much. $200 is going salvage rate round here. You did'nt say if the "buzzsaw" was an A-C attachment or not. If your friend wants to get more than salvage price, It should at least run, even if it doesent run well. As with all tractors condition is everything.

My 4-H club is resotring a B right now and we are looking for one with parts and possibly an engine. If you could find out how much your friend wants for it in the condition it is in please I am interested. Also is the engine stuck or anything major wrong with it?

Thanks,
Justin
