I recently purchased an Allis B that I plan to use for lawn mowing. One rear wheel (left) is loose on the axle and was wondering if there are any tricks involved in tightening it.

Grind off the back of the wheel so it can slide on farther before it bottoms out. You can also try thin shims and/or epoxy in the splines. Put the shims in so they aren't under load in the forward direction.

I Have Noticed That The Early Tractors Have A Tapered Course Splined Shaft And As They Wear There Is A Noticible Amount Of Play,What I Have Done To Correct This Is To Add Oversize Shims Behind The Large Nut And Lock Washer
