Don; Before taking the plunge, so to speak, check the bypass ball valve and spring. these can be checked without removing the pump. If something is caught in the valve, holding it open, the pump will not build any pressure, ditto, if the spring is broken or missing, If all is well there, then you will have to pull the pump. If memory serves, the pump is spline driven off the transmission main shaft, and is a externally mounted, self contained unit. Pick up an I-T service manual for the G, Tractor supply Co. stocks many and can get any one you need. Unfortuately, if the pump is worn too badly, they can be tough to find and PRICEY when you do. G's while unique in configuration, are expensive little tractors to fix when they break. Being one of the rarer A-C models, in terms of prodution numbers, dosent help. If worse comes to worse, You can set up a belt driven hyd. pump. It can be a lot of work, but, It did get the hyd. system working again on one of my little G's. Good Luck, John W. P.S. Once the pump unit is off, check for striped splines on the drive shaft. This can be a nightmare if the splines are striped, this would mean a transmission teardown and rebuild.
