The Allis parts catalog does not offer rebuild kits as best I can tell. This carburetor has a viton tipped needle which is probably not original- it has started leaking. I like the concept of the tipped needle and wonder which kits have that. Which repair kits have you found to work best?

I had trouble with the float valve leaking on my Farmall H. I made a metal needle from a spike, but made it too pointed so that it would sometimes stick in the seat. I had tapped the needle lightly with a small hammer to "seat" the metal point in the seat. It still wanted to stick or leak. I re-installed the rubber tipped (or whatever the material is) needle and it's never leaked since. I've always had more trouble with the rubber tipped needles than I ever did with the old all metal ones.

Bus Driver,

I've done a lot of carb rebuilding over the years on antique and classic cars & trucks, (part of my business) and the viton needle & seat assembly really isn't anything new. They're still in quite a few carb kits for most cars & trucks. I stock the rebuild kits for the Zenith carbs on the AC's as well. The one's I have on the shelf are made by Dana, which I believe is one of the subsiterary companies of Napa/Echlin. You can probably pick one up at yer' local Napa dealer. If you have trouble getting a kit, drop me line. They're very inexpensive... Steve B.
