Model CA wide front

Is a Model CA wide front worthy of restoration. I see one up the road in a sitting, not running condition. I have been in the 9-2-8N Ford arena and not familiar with AC's.

Rick, I had a 1951 CA with a narrow front. My wife loved this tractor because it worked great with a 5 foot shredder - easy to handle. I decided I was getting too many tractors and I had a D-14 and a WD (plus 11 others). So I sold it. I wish I hadn't. It was the most convenient for shredding and was power matched for a 5 foot shredder - not too much but enough. I'll proably buy another some day. It's a great tractor.

The CA is a fine tractor, four speed instead of 3 the C and B had. The C and B were the earlier versions of the CA, or I should say the B evolved into the C and the C into the CA. It had more power (about 25 hp), than the B and C. Probably has a hand clutch in the right axle that in effect gives it live PTO and hydraulic power. And the one you saw has a wide front end, another desireable feature. Again, the CA is a fine tractor, one of ACs best in the power range. Get it if possible. If you don't want it someone else will. You will never have a problem selling it for any easonable price.

The "finer of the fine!" I happen to believe that an ideal tractor would be a model UC, or unstyled WC on steel. The next fellow will think something else. If you want the tractor for working, a newer model might be the "finest of the fine!" Sorry to go on, but that is funny!

I've got three wide front CA's. Make sure the wide front isn't bent up or welded as they were kind of light duty. I have one with a welded up front end and I don't think it would make much of a show tractor. Also there is a big difference in the power between the three. One is a real screamer, one is just loud, the other is quiet but gutless lol! Check the rear rims as they are expensive to replace if rusted out.

GOOD TRACTOR, Have a 52 Just the right size and power. Front end had to be reinforced. Its in the Paint shop now. Love it Don
