I'm replacing the camshaft in a '41 WC. I'm looking for ideas for keeping the lifters in place while I put in the new cam. I tried bearing lube, but it's not heavy enough. Can I use multi-purpose grease or not?

I would take the lifter cover of the side of the engine and put cloths pins on the lifters.( use them like little pilers)
