Hey out there all you Orange fans, I have a question for you. Saturday, I was turning over a little patch on the "west forty" with our little model C, and had dropped the plow, hooked up the disc, and had made a couple of rounds when, all of a sudden, the motor started surging. I stopped, the motor surged a couple more times, then quit. The oil pressure gauge showed good oil pressure (there was plenty of oil in the case both before I started, and after we stopped), the temp gauge was in the low green (and there was plenty of coolant in the radiator)(there was no indication of mixing of water-in-oil or oil-in-water), but she was just locked up tight as a drum. Nancey and I got a tow-strap and pulled her out of the field and back to the shed. I haven't had time to get back to her yet (I commute from Houston to Michigan; don't ask....it's a long story, hopefully one that won't last much longer!), but I was wondering if any of you have experienced a sudden stoppage? I'm guessing that I've spun a main bearing. I didn't hear any unusual noise prior to the surging, so I'm not suspecting a broken rod, swallowed valve, or broken crank..... but any thoughts, at least to contemplate this week before I get back up to Michigan, will be appreciated.
