Hydrolic lift power on a 52 WD

I have an Allis back blade on my 52 WD. The tractor's hydrolics lift the blade fine. But their doesn't seem to be much extra power. I tried pulling metal "T" posts and it wouldn't budge them. I talked to a guy who has a loader on his WD, and he says he can load round bales with it! I've changed the oil in the pump and adjusted the linkage according to the manual. It still, however, has the same amount of power. Does all of this sound in the ball park for power, or should it have more?

If you have a remote outlet you can adapt a gage to the outlet and read the systems pressure. If you do not have a remote outlet you can plumb a gage into the plugged port on top of the hydraulic pump body just foreward of the hold valve. This is where the traction booster gage was connected. You must use a gage with a 0-4000 psi or 0-5000 psi range. The system should develope around 3500-3900 psi. A lot of times a weak system is due to broken springs on the pump pistons. The pump removal and springs replacement is fairly easy, just follow the manual.

Dave, Thanks for the good information. Where is a good source for a gague like the one you describe? I'd like to buy one so I know exactly what it's doing. Thanks Brian

I use mcmaster.com a lot. They are reasonable and quick. You can also get a gage that will work from northern.com or northerntools.com, can't recall which address is correct. They are the old Northern Hydraulics folks.
