I bought a D21 which comes with a 1000 PTO. I was told that there is a 540 PTO shaft available but can't seem to confirm that.
Does anybody know if there is a 540 PTO option for the D21 (series II)?

I'm not sure about a D21 but on a 200 the PTO shaft simply flips. You remove the bolts , turn the shaft around and bolt it back in

I was told by two different A-C mechanics that from the factory you had a chose of 540 or 1000. You can change them over of you can find the shaft(good luck)but is a major project. Also once you change it you won't want to do it again. Solution? go to a farm store and buy a shaft that looks like a pto with 1000 on one end and 540 on the other.
