Hello,I'm in the market for a 50-60 hp tractor for a truck farm I am starting up. I am a bit sticker shocked by the prices I am seeing in the Northeast for 30 to 40 year old tractors, most decent general purpose or row crop suitable tractors at dealers seem to be going for 6-9 grand, and some pretty junky ones are out there for 5. Anyways, does anyone have experience with 1982 AC 5050 Diesel, PS, 3pt, lpto, 1 remote, 1200 hours, sheded and not worked hard, v. good condition? Were they reliable, any weird quirks, how hard to find and expensive are parts? What is ball park figure on $ value? THANKS for any help! Money that took me 10 years to save is pouring out of me like sweat!!! Paul

The values were found in the Used Tractor Price Guide 2001. These seem to be relative prices to auctions in area.

Identifying Tractor Smells - by Curtis Von Fange. We are continuing our series on learning to talk the language of our tractor. Since we can’t actually talk to our tractors, though some of the older sect of farmers might disagree, we use our five physical senses to observe and construe what our iron age friends are trying to tell us. We have already talked about some of the colors the unit might leave as clues to its well-being. Now we are going to use our noses to diagnose particular smells. ELECTRICAL SMELLS
