AC CA Wide Front? Is It True?

I went and looked at a CA with a wide front a couple of months ago. I would swear it was a CA rear bolted to a B front end. The front looked just like my '49 B (wishbone axle). I looked in some books and pictures and nearly concluded that there were no CA wide fronts, especially not with the wishbone axle. Now I see a post on here (page 2, I think) about a CA wide front. I'd like to know if any of you old AC boys can straighten me out on the CA wide front score.

Someone sent me a picture of a CA wide front, adjustable type. Here in Md. I haven't seen one around, just the tricycle type. I'm sure that the one I looked at was a B front end, it was exactly like my B. I'd like one day to have a CA wf or a WD wf. But I need a tractor shed first.

if you look at a B you will see the steerning box arm points straight down and the steering rod to the front end goes to the left wheel king pin area. On the C, it was originally designed as a tricycle front end, so the front steering arm is below the radiator on the pivot for the tricycle wheel. When yo uput a wide front end, you still have the steering arm under the radiator and the steering box arm points striaght up. I think the CA is the same?

CA came with a wide front, but I believe they were all flat, horizontal wide fronts, not wishbone.

The C's came with flat adjustable wide fronts too. If you see one with a wishbone wide front, someone has taken it off of a B and put it on a C. My friend has one like that....the front is much narrower than the rear end and doesn't match up right for row crops.

My Fiance's father has a Wide-Front CA that is completely original (with added front end loader) I think it's really cool.

Yes sir, A-C built it. I've seen a few of them at shows. WF CAs are really sharp!

yep, AC made a CA model with wide front factory , and the easiest way to tell is if it has the two lugs sticking out the front of the radiator shell to mount the cultivator bracket.I have seen C wide fronts on the ca's also but they don't have the lugs out the front. There have been alot of re-engineered tractors over time...Mike

CA's and C's had adjustable wide fronts from the factory. Most B's were the non-adjustable wishbone style, but a few adjustables are around. They are fairly common out in this country, in fact I haven't seen a narrow front CA out here yet. I have 3 CA's with wide fronts.
