D17 Purchase Question

I looked at a Series IV D17 today. It has a 3' bucket on a full hydraulic loader, a 7' blade, and a 5' bush hog. One of the hydraulic pistons for the 3 pt seemed to leak/spew some fluid. The tin is ok with some rust on the fenders. None of the gauges work (no big deal). Front tires 90+%, one rear tire 50% the other 90%. There is some slight leakage around some of the hydraulic line connections.

Questions: Should I be worried about the leakages/how tough is seal replacement?
Will most loaders accept larger buckets? (No name or marking on this one)
He is asking $5000 for it, but his wife knows he'll take $4500. Is that a fair price with the loader and implements?

Thanks,

Steve

I sold a series III last summer in similar condition for $2500 with no hog, loader, blade and single hydraulics. I would say $4500 is decent for a series IV with that equipment.

I've seen a D-17 Series IV with a full hydraulic loader sell for $5100 in a New Prague, MN auction. $4500 seems like a good deal because the loader and all the equipment has got to be worth a $1000.

I don't know how bad you need a tractor but I wouldn't back up on it if I needed one, there is a big part of the price in equipment. This might come in handy (Barnett Head & block co.
