Runs strong right now , was just wondering what the average cost for a 6 cylinder diesel would be not including the pump

Don't forget, rebuild the water pump, oil pump, injector pump, and the injectors (injector pump is usually around $600, the injectors around $75 to $80 each to rebuild) Check the turbo and if you have it apart (which you do) redue the clutch to,not just the plate but the entire clutch. Then send the radiator to the shop for a cleaning and ovehaul, this gives the engine a chance to start over like new. It is well worth it, do it once and get it done. you will have about $6000 or a little less in the job.

It all depends on what needs done. Do you want to do head work all new guides, valves etc. will you have to grind the crank what does the block look like where the sleeves set? The engine kit will cost between $850 to $1400 depending on whats in the kit and who the manafacture is. Are you going to do the work or have it all done. You can expect to spend $2000 to $2500 at the low end to a high of $5500 to $6000. This is a big difference but there is a difference in what you get also. Before doing anything talk to a reputable mechanic to get an idea on cost as to what you will want done.
