Found an Allis WD today for $ 600.00 working daily. The owner says it starts and runs fine but needs a paint job. I haven't seen it yet but was wondering if there is anything to check for on this unit and its reliability. It also has a 3 pt. hitch and a 2 bottom plow with it.

Gave a guy $650 for my 1953 WD four years ago. Added fenders, alternator/generator swap, three point hitch and electronic ignition. This little critter now is the winner of the 4500# class at the pull 2 years running, and is as dependable as any newer model!

What a buy!At that price you can afford to do a lot of repairs and still be money ahead.Pa and I had one and we loved it.Pa couldn't justify keeping it at the time so he sold it and both of us regretted it!I have seen posts on this forum that have said the WD and the D17 are the best tractors AC built. We had a WD,our neighbor had 2 WD45's and a D17.Excellent machines!

If it runs OK and is useable, it's worth it. Just the rear rims and tires would cost OVER $600 alone. If he throws in the plow, too, its a heck of a deal! :-)
