Had a C given to us recently. Am thinking its a 1949 (C77173). Have two teenage boys that do school to work with me and they want to rebuild it. If anyone can give us some info on anything, please let me know. Thanks for any help.

What a great learning experience for your boys. There are three books I would recommend. First, get copies of the "official" AC operator and service manual. A good source is King Books, P.O. Box 86, Radnor, Ohio, 43066. The cost for both is well under $20. A shop manual for the C from I & T is a next choice. All of the parts people have them. The final and best for the beginner is "How to Rebuild and Restore Farm Tractor Engines, by Spencer Yost. Finally, get some good laundry soap, the clothes will need it.

Hello, ur boys will lvoe restoring the tractor. I am 17 yrs old. I am almost finished with an A-C B I am working on painting it now. When I purchased it it had been sitting in a field for 20 yrs. water filled the engine up to the top. Clutch was stuck and it was stripped down for parts. So it was only the engine and the frame pretty much there. It took me about 8 months but I finally got it running and most of the parts on it I need a grill still but I am almost done with it and don't let them get discouraged because it is a great fealling at the end when you are almost done and you look back and realize you did that to that tractor... lol.. I am also workin on a wd and a farmall Super A right now.. Teh wd has a 20ft tall tree stuck through parts of the engine so that is goign to be a fun one!

Checkout Ebay.com for parrts, manuals, and anythign you need! Just type in Allis C udner your search and you'll find just that!
