How can I test my generator to see if it has the proper voltage to charge my battery? Thank you.

with the generator on the tractor and connected to the regulator, measure battery voltage with a digital meter. should be about 6.5 volts or 12.5 depending on your system. start the tractor and measure the battery voltage, should go up to 7 or 13.5 volts. if you think the regulator is bad, take the wires off the generator. ground the F terminal to the frame. connect the A terminal to the battery (the not grounded terminal) start tractor and see what battery voltage is now. if it is high and o.k. now, then regulator was bad. if battery voltage is always 6.2 or 12.5 then the generator is not putting out.
