A buddys friend has a CA and wants me to repair it, but I dont no what is wrong with it, i turned it over with the hand crank and oil came out of the air breather, i checked the oil its right up to the mark and no water. It fires but wont start he said that he was in the woods and it made a sound (wouldnt tell me what kind of sound) and it quit. And he let it set there for several months. Any info. will be helpfull.

Not a lot of helpful information has been given.
Water could have gotten into the air cleaner and on intake strokes pulled into carb, pull off air cleaner oil cup and continue troube shooting.

Need to isolate problem to fuel, mechinical failure or electricial. 1) try starting fluid to see if engine will start, if it does you could have dirt or water in fuel system and needs removed. 2)check compression if all cylinder check 75-90 lbs mechanical system should be ok but you might want to remove valve cover and make sure all push rod are in place and all valves are opening and closing. 3) you say the electrical system is firing, is the system battery ignition or magneto? Are all caps dry and without cracks?
Are you sure you have spark remember the firing order is 1-2-4-3. Are you the first person to work on it after it quit, maybe someone has removed the magneto and it may be out of time.

It is a battery ignition, all the caps are dry without cracks, and im the first one to work on it. I am getting spark to all the plugs, i will try starting fluid and if that doesnt work i will drain the fuel, he said that fuel should be fresh but i dont no after settin in the woods for months. Thanks for your help.
