Another question about WD steering u joint

Is the shaft from the steering wheel to the u joint suppose to turn in the u joint by a few degrees when rocking the steering wheel either way?
It does on mine and after removing the pin I found the hole in the shaft to be elongated and the pin is oval shaped in the middle. The pin looks like it was made that way.

My question: Is this proper or should the shaft be tight in the u joint. Should there be some "slop" or "give" in the steering linkage?

Thanks Mac(TX)

Jim is correct, Should be no slop whatsoever!!
I've got my u-joint out now. I took the steering shaft to the machine shop to have the hole where the pin runs through and have them fill and recut.
Also, will have them 'build up' the worn part of the shaft where the supports ride, along with a new bushing in the support by the steering wheel. The u-joint I plan to 'Rebuild' rather than buy a new one. Over on the Allis board, I found somebody before went to Napa and ordered Precision #861. This is a rebuild kit for some kind of PTO. I will pick it up tonight after work and hopefully by this time tomorrow, mine will be as good as new..
