I have the right rear wheel off, working on a new battery box...the breaks need to be replaced.....so I thought I would do that also.....the manual does not tell me how to remove the axel....I would think the axel would have to come out, before removing the housing....there looks to be a pin ,safty wired in the back side of the housing near the wheel....I thought it would be better to ask the question before messing up something....walk me through the steps of getting to the brake shoes.....thanks.....PS I think you need to know I am working from a wheelchair....Don

No need to remove the axle from the housing. Drain the tranny oil, remove wheel, remove the four bolts that hold the housing to the tractor plus any other things in the way like linkage for the brakes and off it will come. Might want to put new seals in since you're right there and you wouldn't want to leak oil over your new brakes.
