I have recently purchased a 1929 United tractor, which later became a AC model U. If anyone has any information of the history of the United Tractor company, I would be very interested in it.

In 1929 The United Tractor & Equipment Corp., Chicago, Illinois was organized by 32 independent makers, and distributors of tractors, farm implements and industrial equipment.The combined assets of the companies in the cooperative manufacturing and marketing movement was in excess of $ 125,000,000. Plans called for a full line of farm and indudtrial tractor equipment designed to be operated by their own tractor, the "United". The tractor was in full production under contract by the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co. of Milwaukee, a member of the corporation. The first public showing of the "United" (later renamed Allis-Chalmers U), was at the Southwest Tractor and Road Show in Wichita, Kansas, March 1929.Taken from the book "The Agricultural Tractor 1855-1950
