Is it posible to bolt a D-17 head on a Wd 45 engine? If so would the 45 gain horsepower?

I have a WD45 with a D17 head. It bolted on with no modifications. I did not notice any significant gain in power or performance even though the D17 is supposed to flow better. The differences in the head I put on mine was the D17 head had a 30 degree valve angle as apposed to a 45 degree on the WD45 head. It also had .75 reach spark plugs instead of the standard reach plug. I did not dyno before and after but I saw very little gain.
