Picked up a good D-17 engine today, I want to put it in my WD. I'm having a problem, the D-17 engine water porting, it's not the same as my WD. My WD has a thermostat housing that covers both ports, the D-17 does not. What do I do with the second port behind the thermostat housing? The port has nothing but a tapped hole, does this go to the radiator or was this port for a temp gage. Any input please,

the hole is for the temp sender on the d-17, a pipe plug will work fine in it. also you will need to use the wd flywheel, waterpump. also the crankshaft is longer so you will need to grind the crank lugs out of the wd pulley so it will go farther onto the shaft. good luck
